Responsible Initiatives

At Hotel Oasia, we work daily with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to achieve a better and more responsible future – together. Our ambition is to follow our environmental policy as part of our DNA while providing our guests with the best product.

The United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals

At Hotel Oasia, we strive to adhere to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on Goals 4, 12, and 15. Learn more about our efforts to address the selected Sustainable Development Goals below.

Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education

We are committed to providing our employees with ample opportunities for quality education and the chance to develop their skills. To achieve this, we prioritize investments in tailored learning programs and training that ensure the upskilling of our staff.

Additionally, we aspire to contribute to the development of new talents. Therefore, we readily offer internship programs to those with an interest in the hotel industry – please feel free to contact us for this opportunity!

Are you dreaming of a career in the hotel and restaurant industry?

Mentor Project: From Talent to Skilled Worker

HORESTA and 3F, with support from the Nordea Foundation, have initiated a new two-year project called “From Talent to Skilled Worker.” The aim of this project is to retain students in hotel and restaurant training programs. This retention will be achieved through a mentorship program, consisting of passionate young individuals from the industry who will support and guide students through their initial internship experiences.

Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

One of the Sustainable Development Goals that we have a strong focus on is Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. We have several initiatives that contribute to this goal, including:

Cleaning

At Hotel Oasia, we exclusively use cleaning products that carry the Swan Ecolabel. This ensures that we take the best possible care of nature without compromising on our high cleaning standards.

The Organic Eating Label

In our breakfast buffet at Hotel Oasia, you will primarily find organic and homemade products. We have achieved the Organic Eating Label in bronze, indicating that 30-60% of our food and beverages are organic.

Waste Reduction

We are committed to maintaining a plastic-free breakfast. This means that we portion our delicious breakfast in glassware to reduce plastic use and minimize food waste – a win-win!

Uniforms

All uniforms at Hotel Oasia are made from organic and sustainable materials. These materials not only have a lower carbon footprint during production but are also more durable.

Waste Sorting

We prioritize proper waste sorting to ensure that all generated waste is handled correctly and in accordance with waste sorting regulations.

Skincare Products

Hotel Oasia has partnered with Yrolí Skincare, a Danish skincare brand that operates based on strong values and aims to change the way people consume skincare products. They inspire quality thinking, responsible actions, and reduced overconsumption.

Yrolí Skincare products are Danish-made by Allison, a company that actively supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Through these initiatives, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable and responsible future while providing our guests with the best possible experience.

Sustainable Development Goal 15 – Life On Land

Sustainable Development Goal 15 – Life On Land

As part of our commitment to contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 15 – Life On Land, Hotel Oasia has previously supported the “Danmark Planter Træer” (Denmark Plants Trees) project.

Forests are the most effective tool we have today to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Forests are, in simple terms, the Earth’s lungs, and according to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, having more forests is a significant contribution to combating our CO2 footprint.

However, having more forests isn’t just beneficial for the climate. It also provides cleaner drinking water, more habitats for our plants and wildlife, new areas for outdoor activities for Danes, and climate-friendly wood products that store CO2 and replace carbon-intensive materials like steel and concrete in construction.

This project received support from the Growing Trees Network Foundation, an organization dedicated to planting community forests. Their goal is to combat CO2 emissions and contribute to planting trees that sequester even more CO2. Learn more about the Growing Trees Network Foundation and their valuable work here.

Through these efforts, we aim to make a positive impact on our environment and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Green Key – Green Dreams

We think of the environment – and your comfort

You have chosen a Green Key hotel. This means that you are automatically helping to preserve the environment, as we meet Green Key`s environmental requirements.

We make it easier for you to care for the environment without diminishing your experience and comfort

Regarding energy the hotel reduces CO-climate impact by energy-efficient lighting, control on lighting, heating and ventilation. The hotel is equipped with water saving toilets, faucets and showers and cleaning and washing is done with respect for the environment. In addition, the hotel has an enviromental policy and is continiously setting new goals for the environmental work. All this is done with an ongoing education and involment of the staff.

Welcome to the Green World

Green Key is awarded to tourism businesses that make an extra effort to protect the environment. A Green Key business must comply with environmental criteria on saving electricity, water and heat consumption and using environmentally friendly organic products.

All Green Key companies are approved by a dedicated panels of experts and monitored regularly to ensure they meet the requirements.

Help us stay Green

You have chosen a Green Key hotel. This means that you are automatically helping to preserve the environment, but as a guest you can still help by;

  • Using the towels an extra day
  • Saving water
  • Drink more water from the tap – and less bottled water. In Denmark the tap water is perfectly clean.
  • Switching off lights and heating when not required
  • Paper, newspapers, cans, glass and plastic bottles can be placed on the table or next to the trash can. We will then take care of the garbage sorting.

Turning Down the Heat, Turning Up the Coziness

As the cool months of winter draw near, we at Hotel Oasia have made a conscious choice to turn off the air conditioning from November to March. This step is part of our ongoing efforts to be more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. But fret not, while we lower the temperature, we’re cranking up the coziness!

During this period, we invite you to experience a different kind of warmth – one that comes from the heart and fosters a sense of togetherness. Our rooms are equipped with extra blankets and warm duvets, so you can snuggle up and enjoy a good book or a cup of hot tea. We encourage you to embrace the cozy Danish ‘hygge’ culture, which is about finding joy in the little things and appreciating the moments.

In the lobby, there will be a cozy corner where you can savor hot drinks and small delights by the fireplace. We also arrange evening activities, such as board games or movie screenings, perfect for gathering friends and family.

By taking these small steps together, we’re not only contributing to a more sustainable future but also creating an atmosphere where warmth and coziness take center stage. We look forward to sharing these special winter months with you and making memories that extend beyond the season.

Thank you for joining us on our journey toward a greener and more responsible way of experiencing hospitality.
